The Moon was the brightest its ever been in my life, and so was the Stars. The only Light present was the Light of the Night Sky. We were in my Grandmother’s village, and there happened to be a power outage. It is in this context I began staring deeply at The Moon, bright as ever, meditating upon it, thinking about my first trip across the Atlantic Ocean in GHANA, WEST AFRIKA. It is at this point I realized no matter where we find ourselves as people, as Afrikans, we all see this same crystal clear Moon. A Moon Light which we can look directly at, without the blinding effects as the Sun Light presents. It made me realize not only do we Matter, we are extremely Powerful and I believe the Moon was there to remind me that night. A Moon later, Soronko was born.
In our separate spheres of existence, our water may be different; our soil may be different; our air may be different. Yet, the Moon everywhere is the same and the only way we know this is because the Moon allows us to experience Her. Her Soronko. Her Difference. #LongJourneyAhead
